Installation hangs at "uncompressing linux..."
I have a Compaq Presario 1260 with 160MB RAM and I tried to install win2000 by booting from the win2000 CDROM but the installation hangs while switching to the graphical section I've tried to install winXP but it hangs in the same manner. Has anyone installed win2k on Presario 1260 and faced similar problems?

If I select a custom install or a server install with manual partitioning of the disk, the installation hangs indefinitely. It doesn't seem to like manual partitioning. The install stops immediately after pressing the Next button on the 'select packages' screen. Normally at that point the partitions are formatted.
